“The Shuffle” or “Shuffling” is a dance move that comes from the “Melbourne Shuffle,” a rave and or club dance that originated in the late 80s during the underground rave music scene in Melbourne, Australia. The basis of the shuffle uses quick heel-toe action that works best with electronic musicians the Rave scene. However, the more modern shuffle, has been made more popular by LMFAO’s music video for the song “Party Rock Anthem” that was released in 2009. It has taken off in the club scene and todays popular culture. In order to shuffle and do it well, you need to master the “T-Step” and “The Running Man” and learn how to transition between the two. Some of the tips I learned from watching people at raves and my friends were to first feel outage music an know its beats. Once comfortable, drag your left foot back about the distance of its own length while your right foot remains lifted in the air. Doing that while jumping are the basis of shuffling. People that shuffle sometimes wear light up shoes to showcase the best moves. I use them all the time at raves now.
